We are looking for partners who can help guide our mission, specifically those with experience in:
Role: The Visionary.
Responsibility: Runs the board meetings, ensures the mission is followed, and supervises the Executive Director.
Committee: Ex-officio member of all committees (but does not vote on the Finance Committee to protect conflict of interest).
Role: The Money Guardian.
Responsibility: Chairs the Finance Committee. Reviews the monthly reports from the "Finance & Admin" unit, signs off on the annual tax filings (Form 990), and presents the budget to the Board.
Ideal Candidate: An accountant (CPA), banker, or small business CFO.
Role: The Historian.
Responsibility: Takes minutes at the quarterly meetings (crucial for IRS audits), maintains the "Corporate Binder" (Bylaws, Articles, Insurance policies), and handles official correspondence.
Ideal Candidate: Someone organized, detail-oriented (Paralegal, Admin Assistant, Librarian).
Role: The Shield.
Responsibility: Serves on the Finance Committee. Reviews volunteer waivers, checks zoning compliance for the coop/structures, and advises on risk management.
Ideal Candidate: A lawyer (Real Estate/Family/Environmental Law), insurance agent, or compliance officer.
Role: The Fuel.
Responsibility: Serves on the Finance Committee. Ensures the budget is realistic based on fundraising goals. Helps draft the "Year-End Appeal" letters and thanks major donors.
Ideal Candidate: Someone in sales, marketing, or community relations.
Role: The Master Gardener.
Responsibility: Defines the "growing philosophy" (e.g., Organic/No-Till) for the Nutritional Support pillar. Acts as the technical advisor to the Executive Director by approving annual planting plans and writing the Garden Safety Manual.
Ideal Candidate: A certified Master Gardener, Permaculture Designer, or Agronomist.
Role: The Chief Scientist.
Responsibility: Ensures the ecosystem remains balanced. Drafts the "Pollinator Health Policy" and "Livestock Welfare Standards" (for bees / rabbits / chickens) and advises on disease prevention for the apiary.
Ideal Candidate: An experienced Beekeeper, Ecologist, or Veterinary Technician.
Role: The Master Carpenter.
Responsibility: Sets safety standards for the woodshop and property maintenance. Approves blueprints for new coops or structures and reviews liability protocols for the SafePath snow removal program.
Ideal Candidate: A licensed Contractor, Master Carpenter, or Construction Project Manager.
Commitment:
One 60-minute meeting per quarter (virtual or in-person).
Reviewing and approving our initial bylaws and IRS application.
Advising on the strategic rollout of our initial programs.
