Meet the Crew: From Silicon to Soil

Maxx’s Checkpoint

If you read our official blueprint, you know the mission: we are building a neighborhood resilience hub right here in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. But a mission of that size requires a very specific kind of crew.

Today, we want to introduce you to the boots—and paws—on the ground at Golden Acre Homestead. We are a slightly unconventional team, but we operate with a whole lot of grit, a little bit of dirt, and a massive amount of joy.

Dave: From Silicon to Soil

Let’s start with the guy in the chair. For decades, our founder, Dave, lived out of a suitcase. As a Navy veteran and a corporate IT executive, his world was defined by server racks, digital screens, and high-level corporate efficiency. He was a Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, optimizing systems for the corporate world.

But life has a way of changing your trajectory. Following a medical retirement dealing with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), seizures, and daily physical pain, the high-speed corporate world came to a halt.

Instead of retreating into isolation, Dave traded silicon for soil. He took those decades of military and corporate operational skills and applied them directly to the dirt. Today, he leads the homestead from his chair, proving firsthand that physical limitations are simply creative constraints. He is the visionary, the architect, and the guy leaning on the fence to welcome you in.

Goldie: Chief Morale Officer

Homesteading is heavy work, which is why we require a mandatory amount of joy on the property. Enter Goldie.

Goldie is our Chief Morale Officer. She operates on pure, unfiltered Golden Retriever energy. If Dave brings the grit, Goldie brings the warmth. Her primary objective is to make sure our core value of Hospitality & Fellowship is felt the moment you step foot on the property. She firmly believes that every visitor is a VIP, every project is a game, and the phrase "Our gates are open" is a personal invitation to bring her a treat.

Maxx: Head of Security

On the absolute opposite end of the spectrum is Maxx. If Goldie is the welcoming committee, Maxx is the muscle.

Maxx is our German Shepherd and the official Head of Security. While Goldie assumes everyone is a friend, Maxx assumes every falling leaf is a Level 3 perimeter breach. He treats his job with extreme military precision, conducting daily threat assessments of the raised beds and keeping a very close, distrustful eye on the local wildlife. He speaks softly, carries a big stick (literally), and keeps the homestead completely secure so the rest of us can focus on the harvest.

Join the Crew

We might be a small crew, but we serve a massive God, and we believe "One Acre Under God" is enough to make a real difference. We are just getting started, and we need your heart and your hands.

Ready to get your hands dirty? Subscribe to Golden Acre Radio, check out our upcoming volunteer days, and join the harvest. Our gates are open.
